*sigh* Where do I begin. Let's try, 1995. One night, my family and I (thats Mom, Sis, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins) went Downtown one night to the movies to see MORTAL KOMBAT. This was the first time I witnessed video game characters come to life. When we left the theater, we were all walking to the bus, flipping, kicking, punching, and singing the theme song. That night i some how knew that Mortal Kombat was going to be HUGE for a very long time.
So far there has been 2 films, an animated film, two television series, and about 15 video game titles. Mortal Kombat, during its initial release back in 1991, caused a huge uproar of controversy. Many people believe that MK was the beginning of the "Violent Video Game". There has been many violent games before it but, Mortal Kombat's graphics were nearly it's undoing. From the realistic human modeled characters to its exaggerated, sometimes even comical, use of blood and gore. Though almost banned every release, Mortal Kombat never stopped going for the gusto.Recently a young director by the name of Kevin Tancharoen created a web short called Mortal Kombat Rebirth which dropped some of the iconic characters in a real world scenario. Tanchareon directed The Pussycat Dolls presents: Searching for the next Doll and the recent FAME remake. Sounds like a disaster right? Think again!
The video popped onto the internet out of nowhere. And it drove everyone crazy. Was it a new film, a new game, a television series? Simply, Kevin Tanchareon created the short hoping that the plot would be picked up by a production company. And it worked. Warner Bros. will be releasing Mortal Kombat Rebirth as a ten part web-series. Can't wait to see it.
I can't WAIT to get the new game. Me and Vaughn took a glance at the game on one of the websites he was on and Noob's finishing move was frickin SICK! Always been a Mortal Combat fan, always will BE a Mortal Combat fan.
